About WE

Words of Engagement: An Intergroup Dialogue Program is an initiative of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI). It brings together groups of students from various social identity groups with a history of tension or conflict between them. Facilitated by trained and experienced facilitators, participants confront those tensions in order to build bridges across groups.

University of Maryland is among the few universities that offers this exciting and innovative program, and we have developed one that is customized to our particular student body here. We are one of the most diverse campuses--diverse in race, ethnicity, nationality, age, sexual orientation, religious beliefs--and have been nationally ranked for our Diversity Initiatives. Check our Intergroup Dialogue Resources for more information on other universities and programs.
